Our native shrubs are outdoor grown and naturally in tune with the seasons. No matter when you receive them, they’re ready to be planted. In spring, plugs are entering their second year of growth. Since different species wake up at different times, you may receive some dormant plants if your order arrives in early May.

Some of our native shrub species come from Wright Nursery, an Alberta nursery specializing in native woody plants. These species are only available here as seed packages, but you can contact Wright Nursery directly for plug and pot availability. See our Resources section for more information.

Plug orders placed between October and April will ship starting in May. Seed packs ship year-round—if you order both plugs and seeds between October and March, your seeds will ship right away, with the plugs following in spring.

Availability

Our current season’s plugs become available starting mid to late June, with the best selection in late August—which is also an excellent time to plant perennials. If the wildflower you’re looking for is sold out, as a plug or seed package, check back later in the season or ask to be added to our waiting list, and we’ll contact you when it becomes available.
