Bulk Seed and Custom Mixes

Grass seed is generally sown at a rate of 1 lb per 250 sq ft—ideal for lawn-like coverage using Rocky Mountain Fescue, Sheep Fescue, or our Eco-Mix blend. For larger areas, or when combining native grasses with wildflowers for a meadow effect, you can reduce the seeding rate to 1 lb per 750 sq ft. This lower rate allows clumping grasses to grow into larger individual plants and leaves room for wildflowers to establish.

To request a quote, please include a list of the grass species you're interested in and the amount of seed you need—or let us know the size of the area you're seeding. If you're looking for a native grass that isn’t listed on our site, we may be able to source it for you. Be sure to include whether the order will be picked up or shipped, along with your shipping address. We’ll follow up with a quote.

Wildflower seed is priced based on seed count per gram, and both seed count and cost can vary significantly between species. All of our wildflower seed is source-identified and hand-collected in southern Alberta, which means it costs more than machine-harvested seed—and is available in much smaller quantities.

Looking for a unique way to share native wildflowers? We offer custom seed packages for events, promotions, and gifts—whether you're celebrating a wedding, the arrival of a new baby, or honouring the memory of a loved one.

Envelopes and Printing
We provide and print kraft envelopes (3.5" x 6.125") packaged with a single wildflower species for $3.00 per envelope, not including the cost of seed. The back of each envelope includes either seeding instructions and a contents list (for mixes) or a plant photo and description (for single species). You can customize the front of the envelope with your own message or logo.

Customized Envelopes
You can choose from our existing templates or fully customize your envelope design. Please note we do not print solid backgrounds. If you’d like to supply your own envelopes, we may be able to accommodate that—just ask! Custom design and print setup is billed at $50.00 per hour.

Single Species Custom Envelopes
Perfect for meaningful events or promotional gifts, single species envelopes are a simple and cost-effective option. For a single species seed package, 15-25 seeds per pack it plenty. As mentioned above, the price is $3.00 per envelope plus the cost of seed and any design customization.
Minimum order: 50 envelopes total (you may choose more than one wildflower species).

Custom Seed Mixes
We also offer fully custom seed mixes, printed and packaged for you. You can include as many or as few species as you like, which offers great flexibility when working within a budget. We recommend a seeding rate of 15–30 seeds per square foot, so a mix for 6 square feet should contain roughly 90–180 seeds total. We guarantee that each envelope will contain all listed species.

Starting cost: $3.00 per envelope, which includes printing and one species.

Each additional species: $0.25 per envelope
(e.g., a 5-species mix = $4.00 per envelope, plus the cost of seed).

Minimum order: 30 custom mixes.

Here are a few important things to consider when selecting wildflower varieties for your project. If you're unsure where to start or don’t have a strong preference, we're happy to help you choose species that will work well for your site. If you already have a list of plants in mind, feel free to email it to us—we’ll review it and let you know if any species don’t follow the guidelines below.

What to Consider When Selecting Wildflowers

1. Sun and Soil Preferences - Choose plants that thrive in full sun to part shade and prefer well-drained to moderately dry soils. These conditions are the most common in residential and rural yards.
2. Ease of Germination - About 30% of our wildflower species require winter stratification or other treatments to break dormancy. Selecting species that are easy to germinate simplifies the process—especially for new gardeners.
3. Establishment and Growth Rate - We recommend choosing species that are moderate growers and relatively easy to establish. Avoid plants that are overly aggressive or very slow to mature. Ideally, choose perennials that will flower in their second year.
4. Avoid Toxic Plants - When creating mixes for public spaces, schools, or family yards, it’s best to avoid species with toxic or harmful parts.
