Yellow Coneflower features a distinctive, elongated central cone surrounded by drooping yellow petals, creating a striking wildflower display from mid-summer to fall. A favorite among bees and butterflies, its nectar-rich blooms support pollinators, while its seed heads provide food for goldfinches and other songbirds in late summer and fall. With deep roots, it is highly resilient in dry, well-drained soils, thriving in hot, exposed spaces. It is an excellent choice for low-maintenance gardens, xeriscapes, and naturalized landscapes, where it adds height, movement, and seasonal interest.
A hardy, drought-tolerant perennial, Yellow Coneflower thrives in prairies, plains, roadsides, and disturbed areas. Moderately resistant to grazing, deer may browse young shoots, but mature plants are typically left undisturbed.
