Yellow Angelica is a tall, striking perennial with large, umbrella-like clusters of pale yellow-green flowers that bloom from mid to late summer. Its sturdy, hollow stems and lush, bright green foliage create bold vertical structure in garden and wildland settings alike. The nectar-rich flowers are highly attractive to a wide range of pollinators, including native bees, butterflies, beneficial insects, and the seeds provide seasonal forage for songbirds.
Native to moist meadows, streambanks, and montane forests, Yellow Angelica prefers moist, well-drained soils. It's well-suited to rain gardens, wetland restorations, and the back of mixed borders, where its height and texture can serve as a dramatic focal point. While deer may occasionally sample young shoots, the strong scent and bitter compounds in the foliage generally make it unappealing.
