Tickle Grass is a delicate, fine-textured perennial grass known for its airy, wispy seed heads that shimmer and sway in the breeze. Blooming from early to mid-summer, its slender, arching stems hold tiny reddish to golden seed clusters that create a soft, ethereal effect, bringing movement and texture to gardens, meadows, and naturalized plantings. The feathery seed heads persist into fall, adding continued visual interest long after blooming ends.
This drought-tolerant grass prefers well-drained, sandy, or gravelly soils, making it ideal for xeriscaping, erosion control, and open prairie settings. Its fine texture and gentle growth habit make it a graceful companion to wildflowers. With no lush or tender growth to tempt browsers, Tickle Grass is generally avoided by deer, offering natural resistance to grazing.
Tickle Grass is used in our Prairie Meadow grass seed mix.
