Stemless White Evening Primrose is a low-growing, drought-tolerant perennial with large, fragrant white flowers that bloom in the evening and fade to pink by morning, attracting native bees, particularly in the early morning before the flowers close. It is essential for night-flying pollinators, especially the White-lined Sphinx Moth, its primary pollinator. The deeply lobed green leaves form a compact rosette, blending beautifully into both urban and rural plantings. With its striking night-blooming display, which remains lovely by day, as well as its resilience and ecological value, this unique wildflower adds both beauty and function to naturalized landscapes.
Often found on slopes, gravelly outcrops, and disturbed areas, it thrives in hot, dry conditions where it benefits from minimal competition. Though it typically lives about four years, it self-seeds readily, making it an excellent choice for xeriscapes, rock gardens, and self-sustaining landscapes. Its tough, hairy leaves and woody stems deter browsing, offering high resistance to deer and other herbivores.
