Product Options

Glacier Lily is a delicate, early-blooming perennial with elegant, nodding yellow flowers and gracefully recurved petals. Emerging just after the snow melts, its slender stems rise above glossy green, lance-shaped leaves, bringing a burst of color to meadows and woodlands in early spring. Its blooms provide an important early-season nectar source for pollinators, including bees and butterflies, making it a stunning and unique choice for shaded plantings in both rural and urban landscapes.

Thriving in dappled shade, Glacier Lily gradually spreads over time, naturalizing beautifully in cool, sheltered areas. It grows in moist meadows, open forests, and sub-alpine to alpine regions, where it takes advantage of early moisture and melting snow. Due to its early emergence and palatable foliage, it is sometimes browsed by deer and other herbivores in spring.

Traditional Edible & Medicinal Info

Erythronium grandiflorumĀ bulbs were traditionally eaten raw or cooked as a seasonal carbohydrate source. Medicinally, crushed leaves were applied to cuts and bruises for wound care, and some preparations were used to ease mild stomach discomfort. While not highly toxic, excessive bulb consumption may lead to digestive issues.
