Its sticky stems and leaves help deter herbivores and give the plant its name. Sticky Geranium is well suited to a variety of applications, forming loose clumps without becoming invasive. While it may be occasionally browsed, it is not a preferred forage plant. Distribution Info

Native to western Canada, Sticky Geranium is found from BC, to SK, and in the western US.  It thrives in meadows, open woodlands, grasslands, and montane slopes, at mid to high elevations.

Traditional Edible & Medicinal Info

Traditionally, Indigenous peoples used Geranium species as an astringent infusion to reduce swelling and inflammation, while crushed leaves were applied to cuts, sores, and insect bites for wound care. It was also used to ease stomach discomfort and diarrhea, and though not toxic, excessive consumption may cause mild digestive upset.
