Hairy False Golden Aster is a hardy, drought-tolerant perennial with bright yellow, daisy-like flowers that bloom from mid-summer into early autumn. Its nectar-rich blooms attract bees, butterflies, and hoverflies, while finches and other small birds may feed on its seeds. The aromatic, gray-green leaves and softly hairy stems give the plant a silvery appearance, helping it retain moisture in dry conditions and making it highly deer-resistant.
Hairy False Golden Aster excels in hot, exposed sites such as rock gardens, rocky slopes, and low meadow plantings. Its fibrous root system helps stabilize dry, rocky soils, making it a valuable choice for xeriscaping and habitat restoration. With its compact, clump-forming growth, it integrates easily into both naturalized landscapes and more structured native plant gardens. Its hairy, aromatic foliage deters browsing, making it a dependable choice in areas with high deer pressure.
