Cut-Leaved Anemone is a hardy, early-blooming perennial with delicate, cup-shaped flowers ranging from white to pale pink or deep red. Blooming in late spring to early summer, the charming blossoms stand out against finely divided, feathery green foliage. Its nectar-rich flowers attract small native bees and early-season pollinators. As the season progresses, the plant produces distinctive, egg-shaped seed pods that persist into summer, adding continued texture and interest.
Thriving in full sun to light shade and well-drained soils, Cut-Leaved Anemone is highly drought-tolerant once established. Its tidy, non-aggressive growth habit makes it a great fit for both urban and rural landscapes, including rock gardens, dry meadows, and naturalized plantings. Like other members of the buttercup family, it produces protoanemonin, which deters browsing by herbivores and may inhibit seed germination.
