Description: This tree is narrow and upright with a small footprint. Dark, bronzy red bark in wintertime, its younger twigs show a fine texture and red colour, and afford a delicate, dappled shade. Bright yellow fall colour gives great four-season interest. The catkins attract native birds. This birch can handle a wet site but is not required for success.

Found in Nature: Alongside streams and lakeshores.

Distribution: Sourced from along the Bow River, from Calgary to Exshaw.

Important Information: The "Bloom Period" is an indicator of the time period within which the wildflowers will bloom and does not describe the time period that a single plant will bloom. The "Sizes" listed are intended to be a general guideline to consult during plant selection. Plant growth and bloom times will vary depending on geographical location & individual site conditions.
