Description: Very low-growing rose with a thin, open habit. Short, red and thorny branches have compound leaves with 9-11 leaflets, green turning red in fall. Each stem will bear a single pink bloom which fades to white within a day. Mildly fragrant, the blooms give way to a big fat hip at the tip of the branch. Enjoys full sun, prairie-like conditions.

Found in Nature: Wooded hillsides, along streambanks, and on rocky bluffs and ledges

Distribution: Plains to sub-alpine Alaska to New Mexico

Notes: Commonly used for reclamation for bank stabilization. Suckers freely, so ensure adequate room in the proper space. May be aggressive and hard to remove.

Important Information: The "Bloom Period" is an indicator of the time period within which the wildflowers will bloom and does not describe the time period that a single plant will bloom. The "Sizes" listed are intended to be a general guideline to consult during plant selection. Plant growth and bloom times will vary depending on geographical location & individual site conditions.
