Description: Named for its purplish/blue seed heads, this native grass is very attractive and wonderful in a large landscape. It can be sod forming, spreading from short rhizomes and makes a beautiful native sod lawn grass replacement although it takes time to establish. In the cool fall temperatures the blades of this grass turn to shades of orange kissed yellows and begins to curl up as they dry out.

Found in Nature: Dry, open sites.
