Description: This low evergreen perennial semi-shrub has thick leathery leaves, is mat-forming and grows in gravelly soil. Its yellow flowers are profuse in early summer and are followed by fuzzy seed heads in the fall. Use as a groundcover, in a rock garden or as a transition plant bordering gravelly parking areas and pathways. This plant dislikes being disturbed once growing and needs snow cover in the Chinook Zone.

Found in Nature: Open gravelly sites with good winter snow cover.

Distribution: Foothill, Rocky Mountains, Northern Boreal Forest

Important Information: The "Bloom Period" is an indicator of the time period within which the wildflowers will bloom and does not describe the time period that a single plant will bloom. The "Sizes" listed are intended to be a general guideline to consult during plant selection. Plant growth and bloom times will vary depending on geographical location & individual site conditions.
