Description: Purple Stemmed Aster is aptly named and usually has bright purple or red stems but this is not always the case. Occasionally it will have white flowers. This Aster prefers wet places and can get very large. It is an aggressive grower and is fantastic in large spaces where it can form large patches. This aster is a late bloomer flowering well into the fall. Fall foliage color can be purple red. Asters are loved by both Bees and Butterflies and are an important late season pollinator.

Found in Nature: Moist or wet meadows, swamps, rich woodlands and stream-banks.

Distribution: Foothills, Boreal Forest

Notes: Available as larger potted stock - pick up only.
Latin genus recently changed from Aster to Symphyotrichum
