Description: Black-Eyed Susans bloom just as Brown-Eyed Susans are finishing up and flowering lasts well into the fall. Black-Eyed Susans are short-lived perennials that will re-seed themselves around but in the foothills this late flowering means the seed may not have the time to mature before winter hits and so they may eventually die out. This wildflower was introduced to Alberta and has naturalized itself but it is a plant of the eastern and central prairies.

Found in Nature: Open, moderately dry sites and disturbed areas.

Distribution: Plains to Montane

Notes: Available as larger potted stock - pick up only.

Important Information: The "Bloom Period" is an indicator of the time period within which the wildflowers will bloom and does not describe the time period that a single plant will bloom. The "Sizes" listed are intended to be a general guideline to consult during plant selection. Plant growth and bloom times will vary depending on geographical location & individual site conditions.
